Quote | KNIGHT VIEWS

"[The knighthood is] an honour, and I'm very appreciative, but I don't use my title because I'm only an actor. I mean, I know one or two knighted actors insist on being addressed as Sir, but, oh dear, give me a break I'm sure Michael Caine and Michael Gambon have the same view of their titles as me: that it's nice, but a bit of fluff. Some others, though, go the whole hog and you wonder what possesses seemingly intelligent guys to do that. It certainly impresses the Americans, but it doesn't mean a thing."

Anthony Hopkins, interviewed in the Daily Mail Weekend supplement, 1 December 2007.
